Japanese translation of Harry Potter 6 is going to be out in May 17. Hmm, they took almost one year for translation? Well, it's not the point. The problem is, Japanese versions are - you know, not fascinating at all.
Japanese versions have a lot of problems. Too unnatural sentences - weird choices of words - agh, it's difficult to explain in English!
Anyway, I believe that the strange translation is one of the reasons why Japanese HP fans are decreasing. (The sales of book 5 was almost half of that of book 1!) The adults regard HP as "children's books" because its style is too childish. Harry Potter is definitely NOT only for children, right? But many Japanese people think so! It's really, really sad to have disappointing translation. And I was really lucky to happen to read the original Engligh books...
I suppose many of you have read the English version, but I'd like to ask people who read translated version into your local language. Is your local version fascinating as same as original? Is it only Japanese which is unlucky? I do wish we could have at least "normal" professional translator...
